Hero Honda Hockey World Cup 2010 coverage

25 Feb 10, Singapore: The 12-teams participating in the Hero Honda Hockey World Cup 2010 have arrive in New Delhi ready for the most coveted prize in international hockey. Defending champions Germany have been drawn in Group A alongside seasoned powerhouse and arch rival Netherlands, emerging powerhouse, Korea and dark horses, Argentina and New Zealand. Canada complete that group and are largely expected to make up the numbers.

Group B has been billed the group of death and it features, the host nation India, Pakistan, Australia, Spain, England and finally South Africa.

Fittingly, India will open their campaign against Pakistan on Sunday before taking on Joint favourites, Australia will start against England while Spain take on South Africa in the first game of the tournament.

With the usual suspects expected to dominate proceedings, there is anxiety in the South Asian country whether their beloved India can make the cut for the semi-finals. It is largely viewed that success against Pakistan in the opening game will be the catalyst to boost the team's chances of qualification from this very tough group.

Australia and Spain are seen as favourites to progress from this group while Germany and the Netherlands are expected to join them in the last four. Nonetheless, it is interesting to note that the Netherlands will finish their group games against Korea and at that stage qualification could have come down to that game for both teams. Exciting times ahead for all hockey lovers!

Here in Singapore you can catch all the games in the comfort of your homes on SCV's Super Sports Arena, Channel 122.
