| SHF U21 Championships 2010 Results Semi-Finals roundup
7 March 10, SINGAPORE: Singapore Recreation Club (SRC) and Jansenites have made a clean sweep of the final spots on offer in this season's Singapore Hockey Federation (SHF) under-21 championships. In the girls' competition SRC beat Crescent Girls A 3-0 whilst Jansenites ousted Old Victoria Association-Victoria Junior College (OVA-VJC) 2-0 to set-up a finals meetings with their long time rivals.
Likewise, in the boys' category, SRC Team 1 beat Police Sports Association 4-0 whilst surprisingly; Jansenites beat the Singapore Youth Olympic Games (YOG) squad 4-1 to book their place in Saturday's finals at the Sengkang Stadium.
The girls will start the day 5pm while the boys will play at 7pm. Two highly charges affairs can be expected and you would be well advised to make your down to Sengkang to immerse yourself in some high class vastly improved junior hockey this Saturday.
Goals galore may not be the order of the day, but Nursabrina Bhanu of SRC in the girls tournament and YOG's Muhd Haseef in the boys competition should be named as top scorers due to their considerable lead over their nearest rivals. Bhanu has bagged 13 goals in five games, i.e. 2.6 goals a game while Haseef have notched 14 goals in seven games, i.e. 2 goals per game. So far 45 girls have scored in the least one goal this season, that's 25% of all the participants. For the boys, a whopping 79 players have scored, that's about 30%.
If this trend keeps up the future for Singapore hockey looks bright. The SHF EXCO, Council would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of you to the Sengkang stadium this Saturday to attend the Under-21 championships finals. Games start at 5pm onwards.-story by SHF
