SRC become double premiers after rivals crumble at final hurdle

21 June 2010, SINGAPORE | The Singapore Hockey Federation (SHF) Men's and Women's Premier Leagues was won by Singapore Recreation Club (SRC) after Police Sports Association in the men's and Singapore Cricket Club (SCC) in the women's league failed to do enough to deny the perennial premiers the double honours.

SRC crushed Police 4-0 in the MPL and their ladies sealed the title with a assured winning performance of 2-0  against a stern Indian Association (IA) side. Knowing that even a win could not aid their cause, SCC lost 3-1 to Jansenites and the duo will meet again in the Play-off semi-finals. SRC will play Police in the other semi-finals in the WPL which takes place this Saturday from 5pm onwards at Sengkang Stadium.

In the MPL SRC will play either Jansenites or the Singapore Youth Olympic Games (YOG) squad in the first semi-finals whilst Police await one of the latter pair too. Police play Jansenites on Wednesday to conclude the league fixtures before this weekend's play-off's semi-finals on Sunday from 5pm onwards.  -story by SHF
