| C&C United make dream debut in Division 1
11 July 2010, SINGAPORE |C&C United made a dream debut in the Singapore Hockey Federation (SHF) Men's Division 1 with a resounding 5-2 win over Old Rafflesians Association. The win took C&C to the top of the league and gives them a chance of earning promotion to the pinnacle of Singapore hockey next season in the Premier League.
In the meantime, Tornados and Singapore Cricket Club (SCC) opened the league with an exciting 3-3 draw. The 7-team league should see last season's finalists Singapore Recreation Club (SRC) and the Hollandse Club compete for honours along with much improved Tornados and SCC. C&C United are expected to be the dark horses.
Singapore Schools are not competing this season after their fine performance last season. Despite the loss of the latter the league is set to be keenly contested by all teams and Tornados will attempt to top the standings when they play Nanyang Technological University (NTU) this weekend.
